Does “Mad Men” star Christina Hendricks have a fashion problem?
Yes, according to Scotland’s Daily Record, which explains that while it’s normal for Hollywood actresses to be “given amazing frocks to wear by high-profile designers keen for the free publicity,” Hendricks hasn’t had the same experience because she’s curvy.
“People have been saying some nice, wonderful things about me,” the paper quotes Hendricks as saying. “Yet not one designer in town will loan me a dress.”
She supposedly continues, “They only lend out a size 0 or 2. So I’m still struggling for someone to give me a darn dress.”
There’s just one not-so-small problem: Hendricks never spoke to the Daily Record, according to her rep.
(Not to mention the fact that another source tells us the paper is way off-base with what they claim to be the actress’ measurements.)
And one needn’t look any further than last weekend’s Emmys for proof that the Record’s claim of designer woes isn’t accurate.
“She had plenty of options for dresses,” her rep tells Gossip Cop, “and decided to partner with Zac Posen, who created the gown she wore to the Emmys on Sunday. She loved being able to collaborate with Zac.”
Adds the rep, Hendrick “looked beautiful and felt great the entire night.”
It’s a shame news outlets are trying to take that away from her.
Gossip Cop reached out to the Daily Record for a comment regarding Hendrick’s rep’s contention that the paper never spoke to her, but we haven’t received a response.
Guess they’re not speaking to us either.
Thanks to Lorna, I can finally add in the gallery HQ scans from the September issue of GQ (UK) featuring our lovely Christina Hendricks. Check them out!

All day long the fashion police have been out in full force weighing on last night’s red carpet Emmy looks.
Mad Men‘s Christina Hendricks has been getting a particularly large amount of attention.
Celeb stylist Jessica Paster told USA TODAY that the feathery gown by Zac Posen “was made for her, and it’s a beautiful color, and the feathers added a little pizazz to it.” Paster says there are only two things to do when you’ve got a large chest: “cover (it) or wear something plunging.”
One fan Hendricks can count on is Jessica Simspon, who tweeted a couple of hours ago:
Christina Hendricks is my pick for the Emmys’ best-dressed lady… Kyra Sedgwick comes in as runner-up!
Curves only seem like they’re in on certain occasions, like when magazines find something great to do with model of the moment Crystal Renn, or Miuccia Prada decides to hire some professional models with full bosoms to walk her runway show. According to Mad Men star Christina Hendricks, most designers seem content to continue making sample dresses in prohibitively small sizes without going out of their way to dress her famous figure.
“People have been saying some nice, wonderful things about me. Yet not one designer in town will loan me a dress,” Hendricks, 35, told the Scottish newspaper. “They only lend out a size 0 or 2. So I’m still struggling for someone to give me a darn dress.”
Hendricks, who wore Zac Posen to the Emmys, reportedly measures 39D-30-39, which would require designers to custom-make a dress for her. She’s a size 14, but as The New York Times Magazine noted recently, one woman’s size 14 is not the same as another woman’s size 14. Hendricks’s size 14 may be top-heavy while another woman’s size 14 might be bigger in the middle. A designer would probably want a guarantee that Hendricks would wear the dress before going through the trouble to custom-make it. So their resistance might not only be due to a fear of her curves. Hendricks’s dress looked okay at the Emmys, but next time, it would be nice to see her in a dress that didn’t look like, as Joan Rivers said of another Emmy dress, it was growing things.
Christina Hendricks and the cast of Mad Men will be featured in the September 16, 2010 issue of Rolling Stone. This issue is available tomorrow on newsstands!

Office Bombshell
“There are all sorts of challenges thrown at her,” says Christina Hendricks of her character, sexy office manager Joan Holloway. “Horrific things. And she consistently pulls it together, cleans it up and moves forward. Sometimes she’s walking through mud, but she does it.”

Christina Hendricks was nominated in the “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series” category at the 2010 Emmy Awards last night (August 29).
Sadly she lost to Archie Panjabi from “The Good Wife” but she was true to form by showing her enviable curves wearing a gorgeous Zac Posen Resort 2011 gown on the red carpet.
Also congratulations to the cast and crew of Mad Men for winning their third-in-a-row Emmy for Oustanding Drama Series!
