Christina Hendricks was on “The View” yesterday (July 22) to talk about her role on Mad Men.
“It’s my dream job. You can’t ask for better material.”
She said she found her own nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series as unexpected.
“It was a huge surprise. It was 5:30 in the morning, and my publicist called me saying, ‘You’re nominated,’” Hendricks recalled. ”I said I knew the show was nominated. She was like, ‘No, you too, bozo!’ I was really surprised and excited.”
“Mad Men” co-star Elisabeth Moss was also nominated in the same category for her role as secretary-turned-copywriter Peggy Olson. Elisabeth Hasselback wondered if there’s any friendly rivalry between Hendricks and Moss. Christina said there isn’t.
“From the very first episode, we’ve worked together,” Hendricks responded. ”She’s a sister to me.”
Comedienne and “View” guest host Alexandra Wentworth told Hendricks she’s Wentworth’s girl crush: “Both men and women love you,” Wentworth said.
“She’s a fun character,” Hendricks said of the self-assured queen bee Joan. ”She’s sassy; kinda mean, but in a way that you like. It’s rare to see a character act so badly sometimes, but you still want the best for her.”
Whoopi Goldberg brought up the article Hendricks recently wrote for Esquire magazine, titled “A Letter to Men.” In the piece, Hendricks mentions that “no man should be on Facebook.”
“Facebook drives me crazy,” Hendricks said. ”You go on a first date now, and then check someone’s status. You see what they’re doing every day. There’s no mystery anymore.”
She also said that it’s harder to naturally grow apart from people in your distant past.
“Why am I not friends with you on Facebook? Because I stopped being friends with you fifteen years ago,” Hendricks joked.
“We want you to drink Scotch” was another piece of advice Hendricks offered men in her article.
“I think it’s very sexy,” Hendricks said. ”My husband drinks it.”
You can watch the whole episode on the Abc site.
Christina Hendricks did not have much time to bask in the news of her first Emmy nomination before getting back to work at the show where she earned it.
The Emmy nominations were announced at 5:30 a.m. Pacific, and “I had to be at work at 6:30 this morning,” the red-headed “Mad Men” co-star said in an interview last night, “so I was drawing a bath when I heard about the nomination.”
She wasn’t expecting the Emmy recognition three seasons into the show, particularly after a year when her character, the sexy and super-competent Joan Harris, was absent much of the time because she had quit Sterling Cooper because of her loser husband Greg.
“The material was amazing, but I wasn’t there as much,” she reasoned. “I thought that might affect how people might pick.”

Sam Page, who plays Joan Holloway’s husband, Greg Harris, talks in a Q&A session on the official site about the toughest scene he had on Mad Men and how it is working with Christina Hendricks.
Q: Isn’t everyone jealous that you’re the guy who marries Joan?
A: Whenever I meet someone I don’t know, they always give me that evil look like, “You’re not a nice guy.” But then everyone says, “Wow, but you do get to work with Christina.” That’s pretty fun, and she’s amazing to work with.Q: That scene in which you sexually assault Joan.
A: That was in my second episode. I didn’t know that was coming up when I was cast. And then the next episode, as they were bringing me back, I ended up running into [writer] Robin Veith out somewhere, and she told me not to be upset about “what we make you do,” and I said, “Okay, I’m just happy to be back.” So I got the table read early, and I looked at a script and was paging through it, and my jaw hit the floor. It was not what I expected to be coming.Q: How difficult was that scene for you?
A: Christina was so generous with the off-camera preparation and she couldn’t have been more helpful and understanding. For me, it was my second day on set on a show I’m a huge fan of, so she made it incredibly easy.
Christina Hendricks shares in an interview with Health magazine (out this month) how she feels about her role as unofficial spokesmodel for voluptuous beauty.
Here are the highlights:
On having a healthy body image: “I guess my mom raised me right. She was very celebratory of her body. I never heard her once say, ‘I feel fat.’ Back when I was modeling, the first time I went to Italy I was having cappuccinos every day, and I gained 15 pounds. And I felt gorgeous! I would take my clothes off in front of the mirror and be like, ‘Oh, I look like a woman.’ And I felt beautiful, and I never tried to lose it, ’cause I loved it.”
On staying motivated to be healthy: “I was a dancer until I was 19. I never had to worry about working out or what I ate. So I’ve really had to train myself to get down to the gym. But what surprised me was that my husband said [the other day], ‘I’m going down to work out,’ and I was like, ‘Oh, I wish I was going.’ And I was like, ‘Ooh! I can’t believe I just said that!’ I’d had a busy week working 16-hour days, and I didn’t get to work out, and I missed it. My friends will read this and be like, ‘No you didn’t.’ But it’s true!”
On Christina‘s fitness regimen and her food vices:
On her workout routine: “I get kind of bored on the treadmill, but I do it. And I do a little bit of weight training. I’m really into the BOSU ball. You have to balance on it, and I do weights and squats on it. I’m pretty good at it, I feel sort of like a Karate Kid . . . I read magazines, and I’ll try [the exercises]. It’s something different, and, often, you don’t need equipment. If I get any private time in my trailer, all of a sudden I’m doing sit-ups and push-ups.”
On her food vices: “I like salty, creamy foods. I could sit down with a bag of chips and French onion dip and go to town! That would be on my last-supper list. But I discovered that dry French onion soup mix in nonfat yogurt tastes just as good. It really does!”
On the constant attention: “I made the grave mistake after one awards show of reading comments online about what I wore, and I was like,’Oh my God, people are so mean!’ I still remember all those negative comments, despite all the wonderful positivity. That’s why we’re all in therapy! [We remember] the 10 bad things that happen to us instead of the 100 nice ones.”

Every year Victoria’s Secret releases their Sexy List 2010–”What is Sexy?”, this is the fifth year and the women on the list are all well deserving of this award.
This year Christina Hendricks makes the cut on the Victoria’s Secret Sexy List as Sexiest Curves!

95. Christina Hendricks & Geoffrey ArendFans were surprised when Hendricks and Arend announced their engagement last year (she’s a buxom redhead, and he usually plays the goofball), but they officially tied the knot in October. And they seem quite content, thank you. Work-wise, Hendricks is on fire with the popular series Mad Men, and Arend had a hit playing the sidekick in (500) Days of Summer.
Just added in the gallery 2 pictures from Christina Hendricks‘ photoshoot for Esquire. Plus an extract from her interview with the magazine: some really great words about men, love and marriage!
We love your body. If we’re in love with you, we love your body. Your potbelly, everything. Even if you’re insecure about something, we love your body. You feel like you’re not this or that? We love your body. We embrace everything. Because it’s you.
Speaking of your body, you don’t understand the power of your own smell. Any woman who is currently with a man is with him partly because she loves the way he smells. And if we haven’t smelled you for a day or two and then we suddenly are within inches of you, we swoon. We get light-headed. It’s intoxicating. It’s heady.
We remember forever what you say about the bodies of other women. When you mention in passing that a certain woman is attractive — could be someone in the office, a woman on the street, a celebrity, any woman in the world, really — your comment goes into a steel box and it stays there forever. We will file the comment under “Women He Finds Attractive.” It’s not about whether or not we approve of the comment. It’s about learning what you think is sexy and how we might be able to convey it. It’s about keeping our man by knowing what he likes. Read more… »
Christina Hendricks will be featured in the May issue of Esquire Magazine.
” The radiant red-haired bombshell from the TV show, “Mad Men”, with the insanely massive knockers is the May 2010 cover girl for Esquire Magazine. In the issue, the magazine took a survey comprised of over 10,000 women and asked them various questions from Politics to sexuality. For the choice of “Best-Looking Woman In America”, over 30% of the vote went to Christina Hendricks (hence the cover)! The other 17% of the “Best-Looking Woman” votes went to Adriana Lima (who is NOT American, mind you) and 14% went to Megan Fox.
In the article, Christina gives out her own personal notes on how to treat a woman. ["No man should be on Facebook" is one of her pieces of advice.]”

Geoffrey Arend, the new hubby of Mad Men star Christina Hendricks, is mad for gadgets.
Hendricks said Arend, whom she married in October 2009, has tricked out their Los Angeles home with technology that “blows her mind.”
“The house is rigged,” the voluptuous redhead told PEOPLE Thursday at Ann Taylor’s 2010 Fall Fashion collection showing in the lobby of New York’s Ace Hotel. “He’s got a projector in the guest room with the screen that comes down. We watch movies in bed.
“And everything is wireless,” Hendricks, 34, added. “If he goes out of town, I’m in trouble, because I don’t know how everything works.”
But Arend, 32, who played the sidekick pal in (500) Days of Summer, already has a backup plan for his tech-averse wife. “We’ve got a projector set up with streaming video,” he says. “I have this remote control. All you have to do is press the help button and it fixes everything automatically.”
Even with all their newfangled technology, the couple has some old-fashioned views of romance. “I was just thinking the other day, ‘Oh gosh, I just want to go home and read a book in bed next to my husband,’ ” Hendricks said. “And sleep … Oh, I get to do that every day until I die. It’s a nice feeling.”
Added Arend: “Having the ring on my finger it makes me realize this is the person I’ve chosen for the rest of my life. So everything that was a small little problem that could have turned into a fight, just sort of disappeared. We’re both very happy.”
