On a recent Saturday afternoon, seven very different women from seven very different TV shows reached a consensus: Working in television is hard work. But for these actresses, the long hours and sleepless nights have paid off.
Connie Britton (Direct TV/NBC’s Friday Night Lights), Christina Hendricks (AMC’s Mad Men), Regina King (TNT’s Southland), Melissa Leo (HBO’s Treme), Julianna Margulies (CBS’s The Good Wife), Kelly Macdonald (HBO’s Boardwalk Empire) and Katey Sagal (FX’s Sons of Anarchy) are each poised to contend in the most exciting — and unpredictable lead and supporting drama races in history.
The actresses gathered April 30th at Siren Studios in Hollywood to talk about their craft in a conversation moderated by THR‘s Matthew Belloni and Stacey Wilson.
Naomi Watts, Liev Schreiber and Christina Hendricks are set to star in boxing drama “The Bleeder,” helmed by Jeff Feuerzeig.
Pic, which Ashok Amritraj’s Hyde Park Intl. is shopping to buyers in Cannes this week, is based on the true story of former New Jersey heavyweight boxer and womanizer Chuck Wepner who boxed 15 rounds with Muhammad Ali and inspired Sylvester Stallone to pen “Rocky.”
Feuerzeig, who won the 2005 Sundance documentary directing award for “The Devil and Daniel Johnston,” co-penned the script with Jerry Stahl.
Mike Tollin and Carl Hampe are producing, with Amritraj and Matty Beckerman serving as exec producers.
Pic is being financed by Linda Zander’s Maxar Pictures which was advised in the deal by Philip Fier of Focus Advisory Services, who will also serve as exec producers.
Hyde Park’s sales slate includes Sony’s “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance 3D,” toplining Nicolas Cage; spy thriller “The Double,” starring Richard Gere and Topher Grace; Jason Statham starrer “Echelon“; and Paul Rudd starrer “Our Idiot Brother.”

Hometown: Knoxville, Tenn.Where You’ve Seen Her: As Mad Men‘s Joan Harris, Christina Hendricks defines sexy with her razor-sharp tongue, fiery mane, and voluptuous figure. Prior to her sex-symbol status on AMC’s hit series, Christina began her career as a model. She crossed over to TV with a four-episode spot on MTV’s late-night show Undressed, but it was her role on the short-lived Joss Whedon series Firefly that gained her some real attention. And her career has truly taken off with Mad Men, now entering its fourth season (tune in this Sunday 10/9c on AMC). You’d be Mad to miss this girl in action.
Where the Naughty Things Are: “[There's] something in what you don’t see [on Mad Men]. There’s restraint. I’ve had people say to me, ‘My husband and I watch it, and we always have sex afterwards.’ I think it’s really hot that some of the things it’s stirring up in people are very naughty things.”

Christina Hendricks is carrying most of the “hotness” weight in this coupledom. The voluptuous beauty is still coasting in her successful Mad Men role and was named the Best Looking American Woman by Esquire in 2010. Geoffrey is in a new ABC TV series, and appeared in Devil last summer, but his most important move was marrying Christina at a hotspot NYC restaurant in fall of 2009.
Admiring Christina Hendricks would like to wish Christina a very happy 36th birthday! May your day be filled of happiness and laughters!
Christina Hendricks and her husband Geoffrey Arend attended the “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty” Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday (May 2) in New York City. Christina wore a Carolina Herrera abstract print organza gown.
