Christina Hendricks: Variety says she could win the Supporting Actress Emmy this year…

Christina Hendricks“Mad Men” AMC

Why she might win: Hendricks‘ Joan has long been the bedrock of what happens at the firm, which is now the fledgling Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. Hendricks coolly provides an insightful look at what’s its like to be boys’ mother hen and fantasy sex kitten — all at once.

Maybe not: The last season began more than a year ago and feels like a distant memory. In the interim, many headlines regarding the skein have centered at the bargaining table as opposed to the performances.

Christina Hendricks linked to Wonder Woman, film depends on Logan’s Run success
Published on August 18th, 2011 by Flo & Filed in News and Rumours,Other Projects. Comments Off

ALTHOUGH attempts at a new Wonder Woman TV series were ill-judged and disastrous, the long-held dream of seeing the Amazon princess on the big screen is edging closer to reality.

In May last year, Danish filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn (Bronson, Valhalla Rising) said it was his ambition to make a new film featuring the superheroine.

And now, speaking at London film festival Empire Presents… Big Screen, the director addressed the issue once again, explaining that he could get the chance if he does a good job with the new adaptation of Logan’s Run, starring Ryan Gosling.

He said: “I would love to make Wonder Woman. And I also think that Christina Hendricks would be the perfect Wonder Woman, but Warner Bros haven’t called yet. But I’m getting closer with Logan’s Run. I think someone said to me in a meeting that if I get Logan’s Run right, then I’ll get Wonder Woman.”

It’s not the first time Refn has campaigned for Hendricks, and the actress herself has said she is keen on the suggestion, previously admitting: “I love it, I’ve been wanting to wear that outfit my whole life. That would be so much fun.”

Hendricks appears in Refn’s upcoming crime thriller Drive, released in the UK on September 23, and is a regular on hit TV series Mad Men. The 36-year-old made her first foray into the DC Comics world when she voiced Lois Lane in this year’s animated DVD release All-Star Superman.

Christina Hendricks shares her beauty secrets and her campaign to help kids
Published on August 18th, 2011 by Flo & Filed in Articles and Interviews,Other Projects. Comments Off

Christina Hendricks, best known for her character Joan in the TV show Mad Men, has the porcelain skin, impeccable makeup, and phenomenal hair color that make you think, “I need to talk beauty with this woman.” I recently got this opportunity after meeting her (and seeing her incredible skin in person—it’s flawless) at a lunch kicking off the Latisse Wishes Challenge, for which she is the spokesperson. I asked the Emmy-nominated 36-year-old Prevention’s 5 DYA Questions. And it turns out, her secrets are actually just sticking to the basics: healthy facial skin care products and a great lipstick.

If we went back in time to visit you at age 10, what would you most likely be doing?
I always wanted to be an actress. I started doing community theater in my hometown when I was young, so that’s where you would have probably seen me back then – hanging around the theater!

What makes you feel youthful today?
Being passionate about whatever it is I’m working on makes me feel youthful. Being excited and dedicated.

What beauty product is always in your purse?
I like to bring attention to my lips because they are so expressive, so I always have lipstick. Specifically, Dolce and Gabbana Classic Cream Lipstick in Cosmopolitan ($30; dolceandgabbanamakeup.com). It’s a vibrant coral color – perfect for spring and summer.

What’s your best tip for keeping your skin healthy and glowing?
I’m very fair, so I take special care of my skin by applying sunscreen daily. Not only on my face, but also on my arms and chest. It’s important to me have healthy, good-looking skin.

Who is your Defy Your Age icon?
Among many women I think of as defying their age, my icon is Sophia Loren. I believe she is among a group of women who are stunningly beautiful and defy the idea that youth equals beauty. Talent and strength of character, as well as external beauty, shine even brighter.

Tell us more about the Latisse Wishes Challenge.
This campaign was inspired by the tradition of blowing on an eyelash to make wishes come true. If you donate a minimum of $20 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation at latissewisheschallenge.com, Latisse will double your donation and you can receive a free Latisse trial certificate. Our goal this year is to raise $500,000 so a wish can be granted in every Make-A-Wish chapter across the country. I am really proud to be an ambassador for a brand that contributes to children.

What’s on Christina Hendricks’s Vanity Table?
Published on August 17th, 2011 by Flo & Filed in Articles and Interviews. Comments Off

If you consider her role as sassy femme fatale Joan Harris (née Holloway) on AMC’s hit series Mad Men, it only makes sense that the gorgeous Christina Hendricks is a fan, and user, of Latisse. After all, thick, sexy lashes were beauty staples of the 60s. Think Marilyn Monroe, the icon to which Christina’s character is often compared. But her relationship with Latisse goes beyond voluptuous lashes: Christina is actually the campaign ambassador for the Latisse Wishes Challenge.

The fund-raiser, which benefits the Make-a-Wish Foundation, continues through November 30. Not only will Latisse double all donations up to $250,000, but the first 10,000 participants who donate a minimum of $20 will receive a Latisse free trial. What could be better than long lashes for a wonderful cause?

Christina has said, “I’ve always felt my lashes were short and thin, and in my profession I wear a lot of false lashes and makeup, which take a toll. So when Latisse became available, I was curious to learn more… Latisse is also a brand that contributes to children, and I couldn’t think of a better cause to support than the Make-a-Wish Foundation. When I was seven years old, I saw firsthand the difference a wish can make in the life of a child, when a girl in my class got her wish to meet Erik Estrada.” Being that the Make-a-Wish Foundation is 31 years old, both Christina Hendricks and the foundation have come a long way. What a perfect time to ask this fabulous actress our favorite question: “What’s on your Vanity Table?”
