The consensus was that you totally upstaged Sarah Jessica Parker at the I Don’t Know How She Does It premiere. Was that intentional?
I didn’t know that people were saying that! I really don’t think SJP could possibly be upstaged – she’s sensational. There’s been such a huge focus on your body, what do you wish people would ask you about instead?
I always get really excited about the projects I’m involved in. So I appreciate having the opportunity to talk about the work I do, rather than the way I look doing it.What did you enjoy most about your year living in North London?
I lived just off the Holloway Road for a year in the late 1990s. It was a really excit- ing time to be in London: British fashion was booming, Britpop was in full swing and there was this energy that I’d never experienced before.Where did you hang out in London?
I was a Camden girl. I’d shop in the market and go to all those great pubs by the Lock. You’re in the new video game Need For Speed The Run. After starring in L.A. Noire, did your Mad Men co-star Aaron Staton give you any tips?
He did not, but he certainly inspired me to want to do a video game. He was working on L.A. Noire for several months and it was a very involved process. It’s incredible to watch; the character looks so like him. What’s filming a video game like?
One of the reasons I thought it would be really exciting was that it’s more like doing a play than acting for TV or a movie. You’re surrounded by all these cameras capturing you from every angle, so you don’t have to keep stopping and starting while the director moves the camera – you really just perform the scene, so it feels very natural. How does the filming process work?
You put on a special bodysuit and funny, tight little cap, then you sit there while your face and body are covered in tiny motion sensors that detect the most subtle movements. There’s no lighting and it all happens in a very minimalist room. Will your husband [Geoffrey Arend] enjoy playing the game or will it be too weird for him?
Well, both. He’s a huge video game fan and he’s really looking forward to it, but I think it’ll probably scare him a little bit. My character is the protagonist’s handler – she pays for him to get into an illegal street race and then speaks to him throughout the race to spur him on. Actually, maybe Geoff would find it encouraging…Christina Hendricks appears in EA’s Need For Speed The Run video game, which is out on 18 November

Christina Hendricks is one of the most successful working women in Hollywood today, and it turns out the actress has every reason to count her blessings, having survived a potentially fatal car accident as a little girl.
“I was in my family’s VW bus, we drove everywhere and my family would go camping all the time. We were up in the mountains and it was snowing, and my dad was sightseeing,” Hendricks recalled to FOX411’s Pop Tarts column, while promoting her new role as a leading lady in EA’s latest video game “Need For Speed The Run.” “And we just slowly went off the road into this ditch and we didn’t know how deep it was… we really thought we were dying.”
Hendricks said her mom even prepared them all for the end. Continue reading »
The venerable Need for Speed franchise is getting some new blood in its upcoming 18th installment. EW can exclusively report that through the magic of motion-capture technology, Mad Men‘s Christina Hendricks will play a leading role in the upcoming Need for Speed: The Run. She plays Sam Harper, a presumably badass big wheel in the exciting world of outlaw street racing, who serves as the player’s eyes and ears on the course.
“She’s got a relationship with the main driver player,” explains Hendricks, referring to the game’s protagonist Jack Rourke (played by Sean Faris who, in a bit of ambient gamer lore, played Kyo Kusanagi in the film adaptation of The King of Fighters.) “They come from the same hood. She gets him involved in the cross-country race with a lot of money at stake. There’s an element of pushing him but also taking care of him.”
Hendricks admits that she’s not a gamer, though she explains, “My husband and my brother are huge game players. My husband’s constantly running to GameStop because something’s being released the next day.” This is her third car-themed role in the last year, after last month’s Drive and 2010′s Life As We Know It (where her character died in an off-screen car accident), but Hendricks sounds a bit embarrassed describing her own choice of wheels. “For years, I have been driving a PT Cruiser. I like that I can put tons of stuff in it.”
She laughs. “I don’t think you’re gonna see a PT Cruiser in Need for Speed. It’s really not an action car.” We’ll soon find out — Need for Speed: The Run will hit North America on November 15 for XBox 360, PS3, Wii, 3DS, and PC, so there’s still time for the developers to add “Christina Hendricks’ PT Cruiser” as limited-edition Downloadable Content.
Christina Hendricks stepped out to last night (October 15) to celebrate “Big, Easy Style“, a new decorating book, written by “Mad Men” actor and New Orleans-born decorator Bryan Batt.

When not sashaying around the ad agency on Mad Men, Christina Hendricks is likely to be found at home in her kitchen.
“We like to cook,” the Emmy nominee, 36, tells PEOPLE about life with husband Geoffrey Arend. “We take turns being the chef and sous chef, and we are constantly looking up recipes and trying something new. It’s very rare that we have the same dish twice in our house.”
Speaking during the press junket for the new video game Need for Speed: The Run, in which she plays a character who manages outlaw street racers, Hendricks admits to spicing things up. “I like to cook Indian or Indian-inspired kinds of things,” she says.
That taste for the tangy also extends to her entertainment.
“I’m really into horror,” says Hendricks. “I really like American Horror Story, the new TV show. That’s really scary. I love having the crap scared out of me!”
Does that mean a horror role may be next on her menu?
“I want to try everything,” she says. “I’d love to do some more comedy, do some fantasy, do a Western. That’s why I love being an actress, you get to be all these different people.”
